Scope:  This detail specification prescribes the general requirements and identifies the verification procedures for the MACHINE GUN, 7.62 MILLIMETER: M240 SERIES, gas operated, air-cooled, link belt fed, series of machine guns. The appropriate specification sheet used in conjunction with this general specification will constitute the complete item description of the individual models.
