Overview

Title:  Alternative Sustainable Plating for Electrical Connectors Scope:  This case study describes how the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Land and Maritime partnered with industry to help develop specifications for three new finishes for plating electrical connectors. These new finishes are intended to meet the same stringent requirements as the widely used, but hazardous, cadmium finish. The materials were added to nine military specifications covering hundreds of standardized military connectors.
