Overview
Title:  Procedures and Selection of Non-Medical Contact Lenses for Aircrew
Scope:  The purpose of this agreement is to consider the selection and
standardisation of lens materials and the rationale for use of rigid gas permeable and soft
contact lenses. Specifically, this standard addresses non-medically indicated operational
use. The use of contact lenses to meet medical need may differ from this standard. Other
considerations will include:
a. maximum wear time in (a) peace time flying, and (b) under combat conditions
b. hygiene procedures
c. selection procedures to determine suitability of candidates to wear contact
lenses;
d. ocular health
e. problems likely to be encountered
