Overview
Title:  Maintenance of Operational Fitness during Hot Air Environments
Scope:  The purpose of this agreement is to provide guidance for minimizing the impact of heat stress on air operations in the desert, the tropics, or northern hemispheric regions where very high heat and humidity levels can be experienced during summer months. Although excellent guidance exists for land forces, it was felt that a separate document was needed for flight operations because of significant differences in the types of work performed and because air forces generally operate from fixed locations. This document summarizes current knowledge of heat stress and related factors which impair aircrew and ground crew performance and mission effectiveness, and is intended as an aid for training all types of personnel and especially for briefing troops just before deployment to hot climates.
