Overview
Title:  Rifle, 5.56 Millimeter: M16A2E3 (M16A3)
Scope:  This detail specification prescribes the requirements and identifies the verification procedures for the lightweight, air-cooled, gas operated, magazine-fed, 5.56 millimeter (mm) weapon designed for a full automatic burst or semi-automatic fire, hereafter referred to simply as the weapon.
