Overview

Title:  Soldering Iron, Self Heating (without Electric or External Heat) (S/S by A-A-50963) Scope:  This specification covers self-heating soldering irons without electric or external heat applied to the soldering tip. The heat is furnished by the firing of a single-shot cartridge unit loaded with a chemical thermal charge. This tool is useful where electric is not available or convenient, or where use of a blowtorch would be hazardous.
